Experts to Discuss Strategies for Successful Succession Planning: Critical Advice for Central Ohio Family Business Leaders
Family businesses owners can learn about the critical need for and benefits of forming their own advisory board at the Conway Family Business Center's September program, "Will Your Family Business Benefit from an Advisory Board? Tips from Family Business Owners Who Have Used Advisory Boards Effectively", from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m., on Thursday, September 17, at Alumni Hall at Ohio Dominican University, 1216 Sunbury Road. Representatives from Central Ohio family businesses who have successfully created and used advisory boards will share their experiences and help family business owners learn how to get started, how to use advisors effectively, and how to find the right advisory board members. Panelists will include: Jerry Bordner, Board Chair of Laser Reproductions; Rob Caruthers, COO of Ricart Automotive; Rick Gummer, President of Gummer Wholesale; and Howard Task, a board member of several companies. Conway Family Business Center Executive Director Dick Emens will moderate.

16 Central Ohio Family Businesses Receive Awards for Success During Challenging Year
The Conway Family Business Center of Central Ohio today honored sixteen Central Ohio family-owned businesses for their successes during one of this generation's most economically challenging years. The Family Business Awards Program, held at Ohio Dominican University, was established in 1999 to recognize excellence in family business and has honored over 100 local family businesses during that time. In presenting this year's awards, J. Richard Emens, executive director, said "Family businesses are a leading economic engine that creates jobs which helps to drive the health of the Central Ohio economy. Today the Conway Center has recognized some of the very best of these family businesses.
