Peer Group Programs

Peer Groups, intimate groups of 6 to 12 participants, meet regularly to discuss matters of business and personal interest. Peer groups provide a confidential environment for idea exchange, family business education, and personal growth. They present an opportunity to learn by seeking advice from peers and professionals who have "been there, done that" and who are willing to share their experiences and knowledge. Each peer group has a shared purpose and agreed upon expectations. Group members commit to respecting the confidentiality of the members of the group.

Women in Family Business Peer Group

Established in 2006,the Women in Family Business Peer Group is for women who own, work for, or play a supporting role in the successful operation of a Central Ohio family business and who are members of the Conway Center for Family Business.

Bea Wolper, one of the Center's founding members and managing partner at Emens & Wolper Law Firm, moderates this peer group. Join us as we take a closer look at topics such as earning respect, leadership, employment practices, family dynamics and communication in the family business. You'll gain a greater understanding of these issues, techniques for dealing with challenges and a more productive experience back at the office.

Meetings are held in the Griffin Center at Ohio Dominican University.

Next-Generation Peer Group

The Next-Generation Peer Group creates discussions among up-and-coming leaders of family-owned businesses. Ages 21 to 40, group members are assuming a greater leadership role in their family's company or will have that opportunity in the future. Organizational psychologist Dr. Thaddeus O'Brien moderates a roundtable format in which peer-to-peer input gives members insight into the issues that affect next-generation leaders.

Participants from an array of industries and non-competing companies learn to evaluate their own strengths and weaknesses at a time when they are preparing for expanded challenges and responsibilities. Each year, a new class for next-generation leaders begins.
